About
Elise James

Specialist wedding marketing consultant, Australia.

For more than a decade my passion has been in stories. Stories about everyday people; stories about small businesses doing amazing things; love stories; and even those stories shared with family and friends over dinner at the end of the day.

I’ve studied as a journalist, produced television in newsrooms, pitched PR to the media, and marketed online across a range of industries. But I keep coming back to weddings. Because there’s just something undeniably beautiful about being part of one of the best days of someone’s life. And as fellow wedding professionals, I know you feel that too.

The wedding industry is an amazing one because it is full of stories. There are the obvious ones; the couples tying the knot and getting married every day. And those not always as obvious; the behind-the-scenes stories of the individuals, the hustlers, the creatives, and the small business owners who make up one of the most exciting and vibrant industries in the world.

The world is built on storytelling, and since mid-2020 I’ve made it a part of my life to be able to share more of the creative business stories I love.

Because marketing shouldn’t just be about trying to sell a product or a service. That’s what sales is for.

Marketing should be about telling a story.

“I’ve never worked with a more talented and supportive manager. Elise goes above and beyond to deliver outstanding results, whilst creating a working environment that is friendly, encouraging and responsive. She would be an asset to any business and I look forward to being able to grow and work alongside such a beautiful soul!”

Wedding Marketing Experience

The early years of my career were spent in the fast-paced, deadline-filled world of news and current affairs television. Although it may seem removed from the world of marketing, it was here that I built up skills such as video editing, content production, basic social media management, storytelling, and presenting.

It was also during this time that I had my first taste of working with wedding businesses. It was a simple introduction, helping a colleague’s husband with their business at a wedding expo stand. Little did I know that I was beginning a lifelong love for the wedding industry.

I moved across the media and communication ladder into public relations, honing writing and storytelling skills, and learning more about email marketing management.

In late 2017 I began working with one of Australia’s largest wedding directories and was able to embrace my love for weddings full-time. The next two-and-a-half years had me travelling around Australia presenting at events, flying to L.A for the Wedding MBA, and representing the Australian wedding industry across print, digital, radio and television, particularly at the beginning of the pandemic.

I’ve worked with small businesses to help their brand reputation and social media presence. I’ve led teams who built and maintained marketing campaigns across organic and paid channels in the wedding industry. I’ve produced high-quality social media and marketing content for companies, speakers, and industry events. And I’ve presented to nearly 1,000 wedding vendors around the country about marketing and social media at educational industry events.

More recently, I’ve built my own freelance business into a consultancy I can be proud to service the wedding industry with. Specialising in wedding vendor marketing allows me to continue the work I’ve already been doing helping business owners plan marketing strategies, email marketing content, social media campaigns, and copywriting. And now I get to do it in the industry that I love.

“Elise joined the marketing team at Easy Weddings like a breath of fresh air. It wasn’t just her immense capacity to produce a lot of quality work quickly, it was the way she went about it. Her interactions with others were caring, authentic and often hilarious. Elise rose to become team leader and used these positive traits to the benefit of all she served.”
